Using Halloween Pumpkins to Decorate

Budget Halloween Decorating Ideas

Think pumpkins for an inexpensive Halloween decorating idea for your next Halloween party.

Halloween entertaining on a budget couldn’t be easier when you use these helpful tips:

  • Use a black tablecloth and purchase white pumpkins.  Paint simple black silhouettes on them like bats and spiders for a dramatic effect.
  • Find some fun mask templates online and print them out.  Paint mouths and eyebrows on the pumpkins and arrange pumpkins in a group on a table or mantle.  Cut out the paper masks and punch holes on both sides.  Adhere masks to the pumpkins, put ribbon through the holes,  and tie on the back of the pumpkins.   You have your own Halloween pumpkin patch.
  • For an attractive Halloween fall harvest display - use small pumpkins with large stems.  Collect some colorful fall leaves and arrange into a cluster.  Tie them to the pumpkin with some raffia for a nice Fall pumpkin centerpiece for your table.
  • Pumpkin lollipop holders – Use a medium-sized pumpkin and paint a face on the pumpkin.  Use a small screwdriver or pen to poke holes on the top of the pumpkin where the hair should be.  Insert lollipops into the holes to make some funky hair.  Kids will love this one!
  • Have your children cut out different facial features from a magazine or newspaper.  Have a fun assortment of mis-matched eyes, mouths, noses, eyebrows, etc.  Glue facial features onto the pumpkin for some creepy Halloween  pumpkin faces.  If desired, spray paint with some clear lacquer spray for a decoupage effect.
  • If you are having a sit down dinner, use small pumpkins that will fit on each guest’s plate.  Use some Monogram decals from a craft store or use a black sharpie to make your own and put your guest’s initials on each pumpkin.
